It is said that GOD is Omnipresent. HE is in every Atom of creation. And thus
giving this creation Energy and Life. HE is the battery of complete creation.
Since childhood, i was riddled with this question – There are
supposed to be so many Deities in human perceptions. Who made them ?? Then
there were three main powers. One who creates world, one who sustains and one
who destroys. There was always this debate who is greater in these three ??
Every Puran would try to prove one of them Greatest. And i always thought.
There has to be that ONE who made these three. Who made that ONE ?? There has
to be ONE that made this ONE... So where does this end ?? It has to end with
THE ONE who made this all. But none made HIM. So how HE came in existence ??
And after this question my mind will always just shut down. How can any power
come in existence all by HIMSELF ??? But my heart did whisper --- Isn’t that
ONE POINT OF ORIGIN worthy of being known, worthy of being worshiped ?? Rather
then so many Deities ?
So why so many Deities ? Imagine the EARLY MAN on earth.
Imagine his bewilderment. Who see the Nature at it’s best. And natural forces at
it’s worst. The onslaught of forces, they can do nothing against. Imagine the
time when they came to understanding, that just as nature destroys. Nature
cares too. The need of sun, of wind. Of various other forces. They must have
felt such AWE for these forces. A natural fear for these powers made them want
to earn the favours of nourishing powers. And appease the destroyers. And thus
the powers got names and identifying Deities. The EARLY CIVILIZATION not
knowing THE ONE POWER BEHIND CREATION, started worshiping various powers they
saw working INSIDE CREATION. Later those ascending to inner realms, might also have come across proof of these administrative powers only. Not going much above three realms, many of them found no proof of ONE POWER. And proclaimed the administrative block as whole and sole of creation.
As HE is the only ONE that exists. HE is the only ONE behind
all these powers too. ONE DEITY means just one part of HIS total power. ONE
ASPECT OF HIS POWER. But there is still that ONE POINT OF ORIGIN, where HE
exists – UNDIVIDED, IN TOTALITY OF HIS EXISTENCE. The PINNACLE of all power.
Now MYSTICS tells us – that all these exists inside our own
human body. In “Kar naino deedar “ By SANT KABIR JI. And discourse on the same
shabad by BABA SAWAN SINGH JI. It is explained to us, the places of each Deity
inside our body. Ganesha being at lowest chakra and Shakti being in throat
chakra. And yet in this same discourse HE tells us that the seat of SOUL, i.e
real us , is highest. The seat of soul is THE THIRD EYE CENTER.
If we talk about status. Of these Deities and us. In human
body as a soul we are at high point. Residing at highest chakra. MYSTICS even
go on to say, that we are residing in highest body of this CREATION . For if
these Deities crave NIRVANA, they will have to come in human body, to attain
that. So right now actually we are in highest body. If we talk about power.
Then we are all same. All these Deities are of the same Essence, as we are. Same
Souls as we are. With all the same power and Glory that we all as a soul shares
with our ONE CREATOR. They are just
sitting in that body now, because of the beautiful karmas they achieved during
their term in Human Body. That is the only difference.
So are they here to teach us anything ??? Nothing i will
say. Accept this – that even they are not above Vices and Karmas. If we go thru
Puranas , we see they are not above anything. They are plagued with same Vices.
Same insecurities to maintain their own status. In fact they even accumulate
many bad Karmas to maintain their status and whatever LOK they have been given
to reside for their terms of Deity hood.
Believe me – I have gone thru many Puranas, and even THE
THREE POWERS, considered above all, have committed such Karmas, which are
beyond imagination. But we do acquit them in our thinking, for they are “the
Gods “ after all. How can we question them ??? It’s BLESPHEMY !!!!! But they
have committed bad acts. Not mentioning here, for many still revere them. And my
MASTER taught me not to hurt anyone’s believe.
Or may be just one incidence that left me questioning. If i
may share here. In shiva purana one
incidence is told. About how when Jalandhar was unbeaten and even Shiva was
unable to conquer him. Because he was powered by his wife Tulsi’s virtue.
Vishnu took it upon himself to take away that shield from Jalandhar. He took
the form of Jalandhar and spent the night with Tulsi, using rights of a
husband. Thus breaking her Virtue. We never question His this act. Coz He is a
higher Deity !!! While Indra was condemned doing the same with Ahiliya. And Ahilya
was punished. Vishnu’s act is pardoned by us. Coz --- ALL IS FAIR IN WAR ??? Or
all is fair because of holding the post of higher Deity ??
I have enough of war, struggle for power and politics in this world. I certainly for one, don't want my DIVINE ABODE OR MY GOD to be merely an extension of this world. However ethereal or divine looking that realm can be. I would want it to be just Love minus everything these three realms stands for.
My question is ---- Is this the highest example we can think
of that one ULTIMATE POWER ??? Who can “STOOP SO LOW “?? As to commit such
karmas to maintain HIS own CREATION ??
I certainly hope not !!!! HE HAS TO ABOVE ALL AND EVERY
ACT... TO BE CALLED A CREATOR, AN ULTIMATE GOD. And worthy of being our BELOVED
!!! I really would want my BELOVED to be just LOVE. And not immersed in such
acts, which needs to balance the energies of creation. AND HE IS THAT AND
MORE....
So the question is if Deities has nothing to teach us, for
they are going thru their own Karmas, and their own DRAMAS. And not worthy of
being worshiped, in comparison to that ONE GOD. Then why does MASTER go to
temples, gurudwaras and other places of worship ??
I am not an authority on what HE is, what HE does, why HE
does, what ever HE does ?? For HE is an enigma. And as MYSTICS says --- only
the one who is as high as BELOVED, can understand HIM. ( aived ooncha hoye joi,
TIS oonchey ko jaaney soi )
But i do believe that HE can do that. Visit outer places of
worships too. To understand this let’s recall that story – About SANT NAMDEV
ji. HE was one day just about to start HIS meals. Was about to apply GHEE on
HIS Roti ( Indian bread ) When suddenly a street dog came and snatched HIS roti
started running away. SANT NAMDEVJI started running behind this dog --- Saying
--- BELOVED, why are YOU taking dry Roti. Please let ME atleast apply GHEE on
it.
PERFECT MASTERS are real example of OMNIPRESENT GOD. THEY
have realised that stage, where THEY are not only ONE WITH GOD. But THEY can
see THE ONE in every atom, in every thing, in every living being. If THEY visit
any place, be it slum or places of worship. It is all equal to THEM. It is
place of GOD for THEM. But not for us. Coz
we can still see differences only.
Now let’s ask ourselves--- Have we realised that THE ONE, in
everything ?? We say – that if there is love in our heart then even in stone we
can see our revered DEITY. But why don’t we question then --- why only in one stone ??? Why not in every
stone, in every being can we see the one we profess to love then ??? Coz our
Love is limited. Is under boundation of prejudices and limited thinking.
As SANT NAMDEVJI teaches us --- why worship one stone ?? and
hate one living being ?? Then our so called Love or Worship is nothing but hypocrisy
of mind.
So what is wrong in worshiping Deities, or following outer
rituals ??
Nothing wrong, till we are not on the path of LIVING
MASTERS. Till then it is good. Coz we are atleast trying in our own little ways
to remember HIM, in one form or another. But once we are on the path of trying
to achieve union with our ONE BELOVED. Then there are many things that make
outer worship, or worshiping lesser Deities wrong.
One simple example. And i can quote so many.. Just one to make a point. Imagine we are in
our home. We are talking to someone on phone. And that some one is speaking
about some important point. Suddenly our
near and dear one comes in our room. And start speaking about some important
point too. Can we give our attention to both of them , to that extent that we
hear and get what both of them are saying ??
We can’t. With divided attention we will never be able to get both. We need
to give our whole attention to one conversation only. How then we can hope to
achieve concentration to hear what our BELOVED is saying to us? When we want to
keep giving our attention to others as well. And in others, everyone other then
BELOVED comes. Be it near and dear ones or Deities.
In inner realms, our fondness for any Deity might prove a
hurdle. It is written some where in books published from Dera. That a person
who starts ascending inner realms, may stop progress when met by Deity of choice,
which the soul worshiped earlier. The fondness or attachment can hamper growth
for sometime. Unless MASTER intervenes. That for me is enough reason to try and
form attachment to the one and only one BELOVED/MASTER.
And how many Deities can we worship after all ?? In RAMAYAN,
the scripture which talks about RAM. Which we took as a scripture talking about
incarnation of ONE VISHNU. Even that scripture says a different story. One which
we never understood. In RAMAYAN while talking about RAM, it is said that ---
This RAM is DAYAL. Who is above every Deity. It goes on to say... this Ram is
above not one VISHNU but MILLIONS OF VISNUS, MAHADEV AND BRAHMA. In not one
place but thru out RAMAYAN. It tells us that there are millions and millions of
TRILOKS. And every TRILOK is governed and administrations is done by TRIDEVS. Which
makes millions and millions of TRIDEVS. And
we talk and fight about one set of TRIDEV !!!!
And then goes on to say --- even they are not above Karmas. But we see
and understand only that much, which we want to accept. Other then that we can’t
see. And thus can’t accept. Turns out HE didn’t create just one set of three
powers. But millions of them.
We need to understand that these powers are not above
illusions. Not above war, attachments, vices and karmas. They are just going
thru their own pre written destinies. Just as we are. They are as much a puppet
as we are. Better look for puppeteer. And give all our devotion. Every single
atom of our devotion to that ONE.
Once we have achieved union with HIM, and our eyes are open
enough to see only HIM in every atom, thing, form or being. Learned to
acknowledge HIM as OMNIPRESENT... Till then we need to focus in THE ONE only. After
that we can worship even a particle of dust as HIS manifestation to our heart’s
content. Not that HE will still
appreciate our outer proclamations of love even then J
We need to remember.... respect everyone, each power. But worship
and love is for THE ONE AND ONE only....
