FEED THE YEARNING-
TERI YAAD DIL PAR JO CHAA GAYI,
TO IN AANSUO KA MAIN KYA KARU,
MUJHE DARD HE RAAS AA GAYA,
FIR KISI DAWA KE DUA MAIN KYA KARU ?
There we were in the last part. Building a relationship with MASTER. In the older times disciples were more fortunate with Ashram systems etc. They lived physically closer with their MASTER. And building a relationship was much easier. But now in this much faster and complex world, most of us have to remain satisfied with once in a year visit. Question is- should we ? should we remain satisfied with only this much ? And keep going through our mundane life. Feeling secure in the knowledge, that once this life is over, when we leave our body, we will finally have that candle light dinner with HIM.
No we shouldn't. As MASTER HIMSELF says- Try to achieve access to HIM while living. While we are alive. Then how should we go about nourishing this relationship ?
Through each and every means. HUZUR used to say- everything which brings us closer to HIM ( GOD ) is right. Ofcourse the first thing available is our invitation pass-- our meditation. Which is an open invitation to access HIS company anytime we want. But the other thing which helps is-- as we said earlier-- Anyaa waacho wimunchaya. { Think of HIM, think of HIM alone, and give up all other vain words }
Be it constantly repeating our invitation card, constant prayer or constant meditation. In other words remembering HIM constantly via continuous Simran. Or using other means as well. To nourish any relation we need much energy and attention. Let's just give all that attention to our eternal BELOVED. And there has never been more beautiful example of this then Gopis. How they yearned......
JIS PAR TUM REEJHTEY HO, USEY KYA DETEY HO YADUVEER?
RONA-DHONA, SISKNAA OR AAHO KE JAAGEER.
One Devotee asks Krishna -- the one with whom YOU fall in love, what do YOU give him ( that soul ) ? crying and yearning , withering in pain....
This is one gift which comes straight from BELOVED. Feed it till it becomes a raging fire.
It is always said.... who has ever found BELOVED laughing and dancing ? HE is found through fire of yearning.
And here is what KHALIL GIBRAN says about yearning-
I would not exchange the sorrows of my heart
For the joys of the multitude.
And I would not have the tears that sadness makes
To flow from my every part turn into laughter.
I would that my life remain a tear and a smile.
A tear to purify my heart and give me understanding
Of life's secrets and hidden things.
A smile to draw me nigh to the sons of my kind and
To be a symbol of my glorification of the gods.
A tear to unite me with those of broken heart;
A smile to be a sign of my joy in existence.
I would rather that I died in yearning and longing than that I live Weary and despairing.
I want the hunger for love and beauty to be in the
Depths of my spirit, for I have seen those who are
Satisfied the most wretched of people.
I have heard the sigh of those in yearning and Longing, and it is sweeter than the sweetest melody.
With evening's coming the flower folds her petals
And sleeps, embracing her longing.
At morning's approach she opens her lips to meet
The sun's kiss.
The life of a flower is longing and fulfilment.
A tear and a smile.
The waters of the sea become vapor and rise and come
Together and area cloud.
And the cloud floats above the hills and valleys
Until it meets the gentle breeze, then falls weeping
To the fields and joins with brooks and rivers to Return to the sea, its home.
The life of clouds is a parting and a meeting.
A tear and a smile.
And so does the spirit become separated from
The greater spirit to move in the world of matter
And pass as a cloud over the mountain of sorrow
And the plains of joy to meet the breeze of death
And return whence it came.
To the ocean of Love and Beauty----to GOD.
So why this yearning ??
what it does in building a relation with HIM ??
For this SHAMS TABRIZI says-
No doubt , the inner dirt must be cleansed, for an iota of inner dirt can do what a hundred thousand other dirts cannot do. And what is the water by which inner dirt can be washed ? Three, four leather bags of eyes tears, and not just any tears, but tears poured in sincerity.
Once a disciple even went as far as this--- he said to his MASTER- The wounds given by YOUR love.. when they start to heal , i once again scratch them to bleed. MASTER asked- why so ? The disciple said-- so that the wound should always remain fresh. It should keep hurting. I never let it heal MASTER, coz till that wound is alive i am alive in YOUR remembrance, and my eyes alive with tears. If it heals... my devotion just might dry up. And i will be dead.. till the wound is alive i m alive MASTER...
HUZUR used to say this separation is necessary for us, so that we may finally try to find HIM inside.
And OSHO said---
A true MASTER creates discontent in you and such a discontent that nothing in this world can ever satisfy you. HE creates such a longing in you that unless you attain the ultimate, you will remain aflame, afire.
HE creates pain in your heart, HE creates anguish... because life is slipping by every moment, and each moment gone is gone forever, and you have not attained godliness yet, and one day is over.
HE creates such a deep longing in you, such pain in the heart. HE creates tears in your eyes, because only through such divine discontent will you move, will you take the quantum leap, the ultimate jump into the unknown.
Longing is a fire in which a phoenix bird is consumed. The parable of phoenix tells us. How the bird is consumed by fire of it's own burning. And resurrected by it's own ashes. Longing and yearning to have that dinner with HIM... alone... to keep the promise of this one RENDEZVOUS with HIM , and to avail the invitation extended by GOD HIMSELF... burns away that one last barrier which keeps us separate from ethereal seating arrangements floating in air and candle light dinner with HIM... :)
MANZIL ME MOHABBAT KE, HASTI HE RUKAAWAT HAI.
KAL BAZM ME YE KEHTA HUA, JAL GAYA PARWANA.
In the eternal abode of Love there is only one hindrance-- My own existence. Yesterday night in the garden of love, while saying this, the moth embraced the fire. :)
Rest all in next part. Hoping to meet all of you, Lovers of eternal BELOVED soon...
Peace and Bliss to all.
Roohi
We humans live in the time bound zone. In HIS abode time does not exists. But for us new year comes. And past year goes.
ReplyDeleteSome times we promise ourselves to leave one bad habit and acquire a new good habit. We call it-- NEW YEAR RESOLUTION.
Letz once and for all make this one new year resolution, at the beginning of this year--- to strive more and more for building, nourishing this one eternal relationship. To reach as near our BELOVED as possible. To feed the fire HE started inside us. To make it such a vortex , in which we can die and rise out like a phoenix.
AMEN...
MAY THIS YEAR BRING US MORE AND MORE CLOSER TO BELOVED. MAY EVERY OBSTACLE IN OUR PATH TO HIM... BE WASHED AWAY IN FIRE OF PURE WATER OF HEART... HAPPY NEW STARTING OF THIS YEAR TO ALL THE LOVERS OF BELOVED ! :) MAY HE BESTOW ON US THIS PRECIOUS GIFT OF YEARNING...
DeleteThe Holy Longing
ReplyDeleteTell a wise person, or else keep silent,
because the mass man will mock it right away.
I praise what is truly alive,
what longs to be burned to death.
In the calm water of the love-nights,
where you were begotten, where you have begotten,
a strange feeling comes over you,
when you see the silent candle burning.
Now you are no longer caught in the obsession with darkness,
and a desire for higher love-making sweeps you upward.
Distance does not make you falter.
Now, arriving in magic, flying,
and finally, insane for the light,
you are the butterfly and you are gone.
And so long as you haven’t experienced this: to die and so to grow,
you are only a troubled guest on the dark earth.
The Holy Longing
by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
